A mentor and specialist in user experience (UX) and design thinking, Ian Collingwood helps organizations understand their customers and see the world through their eyes.
A strong believer in Lean methodologies, Collingwood has set up several companies, and is currently running a consultancy, UXdna, around the concept of user experience. He also serves as a mentor Seedcamp, Leancamp, TechHub and LeanStartupMachine, sharing his knowledge and expertise in entrepreneurship and customer behavior.
Feargal Mac Conuladh
Feargal started his career working on a factory floor in Dublin, Ireland, where he quickly 'graduated' to production management before being hired into Apple Computer's European Manufacturing facility in Cork, Ireland. In Apple's tumultuous late 1990's his career took off holding senior positions in Global Operations in Cupertino and eventually running European Logistics at Apple's Dutch Operations HQ. Following this he held leading positions at Lexmark, Seiko Epson and finally Lenovo. Passionate about people, business, and start-ups in particular, Feargal moved to Barcelona as a life-choice for his family and to get actively involved with new companies. Separately Feargal is CEO of Securiforest, an OS management start-up. He has an MBA from IE in Madrid, Studied International Management at INSEAD and has been a guest lecturer in EDADE, IESE and many industry forums and events.
César Ramírez Martinell is the CEO of Cesar Martinell & Associates, a prominent architectural firm in Barcelona. He is the grandson of its founder, who founded the company in 1916, and who was a student and apprentice of Antoni Gaudi.
In addition to managing his firm he serves on the board of several construction and engineering companies. He has been part of several large projects in Barcelona, having worked on the MACBA, and was also involved in The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
With a disruptive construction technology he is trying to make housing more afforadable worldwide.
He is a member of the Institute of Public Management (IDGP). He co-directs the courses The Managerial Function in Non-Governmental Organizations, and Leadership and Social Innovation, with the collaboration of Fundació "la Caixa". He currently manages the Social Enterprise Knowledge Network (SEKN) research at ESADE, led by the Harvard Business School and supported by Funfación Avina.
He has published various articles and books on management in the third sector. He is a co-author of "La gestión de las organizaciones no lucrativas" (Deusto, 1998), "Los retos en la gestión de las organizaciones no lucrativas" (Granica, 2004), "Nonprofit organizations: Challenges and Collaboration" (Palgrave, 2006) abd "Effective Management of Social Enterprises" (Harvard University, 2006).
In recent years he has collaborated on strategic planning tasks with Intermón-Oxfam, Medicus Mundi, the Centre Excursionista de Catalunya and the Fundació Jesuites Educació. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Catalana de l'Esplai (Barcelona) and of the Fundación Lealtad (Madrid). Since 2002 he has formed part of the Social Council of the Inditex Group (Arteixo, Galicia).
Alex Barrera is the founder and CEO of Press42, a matchmaking platform bringing together start-ups and bloggers. He is also the co-founder and CEO of Tetuan Valley, an international program aimed at fostering entrepreneurship. He is an agile/lean professor at Proyectalis and is involved with StartupDigest and Sandbox Network in Madrid.
Lane has been putting serendipity to work for over ten years. He has founded several companies, from his first, sadly failed startup in 1999 (don't ask) to more successful ventures: co-founding Adaptive Path, the first user experience design firm, and Get Satisfaction, an online customer service community platform used by over 100,000 companies, which he started with "Get Lucky" co-author Thor Muller. Other trending topics of interest include: improv theater as a management technique, pop-up cocktail parties, and tying together behavioral neuroscience, modern network theory, and Buddhism.
As the team coordinator of TEDxESADE Saskia is passionate about the inspiring speeches at TED and eager to bring its spirit to ESADE.
She is currently pursuing a double degree in Innovation & Entrepreneurship and International Management. Saskia comes from a lively city in Germany, studied in Switzerland and enjoyed exchange destinations in the US, China and now Spain.
She has previous experience in event management and consulting but is striving to become a successful entrepreneur. Besides entrepreneurship Saskia is excited about traveling, modern art and street photography.
Sebastian is studying International Management in the Master of Science in Management program at ESADE. He graduated from McGill University with a BA in Economics.
His eagerness to explore, understand and initiate innovative ideas compelled him to live at several places on the globe, reaching from Bangladesh to Switzerland. In these diverse environments he took up different challenges in student organizations, in sports or in the world wide web.
He is currently pursuing his Master degree in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at ESADE Business School. Franz was born in South Tyrol, north of Italy and speaks 4 languages. He pursued his undergraduate studies in Economics and Management at the Free Trilingual University of Bolzano in Italy.
Full of energy and passion he wants soon to become an Entrepreneur. As an organizing member of TEDxESADE 2012 Franz is also an executive member of E3, the Entrepreneurship Club of ESADE Business School.
Starting from May 2012 Franz will be working as an intern for SAMSUNG in South Korea. In his past he worked for local companies in Italy, mainly in the Marketing Department.
Born in Finland, Axel earned his Bachelors degree in Management from the University of Warwick in the UK, and is currently undertaking his Masters degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at ESADE in Barcelona.
Having lived in 8 countries Axel is passionate about travelling and learning about new cultures, lifestyles and people. As he likes to follow his own path, he sees a future in entrepreneurship as an attractive career, but is willing to keep his options open.
Born in Barcelona, Sergi is now pursuing the bachelor of Business and Administration in ESADE business school. Being passionate about entrepreneurship he aims to build his own company one day. That’s why he joined the ESADE entrepreneurship club (E3) last year where he is also a member of the executive team.
Having worked in a consulting agency and also as a part-time commercial and carrying out different roles in some university liaison projects, Sergi has developed skills in both marketing and finance. Besides the academic facts, he is interested in sport, cinema as well as travelling and knowing new cultures.
He is born in Vigo (North of Spain). He has lived in Morocco and Belgium. He is now doing a Bachelor of Business Administration at ESADE Business School in Barcelona.
He is vice-president of The E3 Initiative, ESADE’s entrepreneurship club. He likes traveling and discovering new cultures. He is interested in new technologies and clean tech. In the future, he sees himself as an entrepreneur and working on his own company.
Andrés Eduardo Morales
Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Andrés did his Bachelor studies in Mechanical Engineering at Simón Bolívar University and is currently pursuing his Masters degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at ESADE Business School in Barcelona, where he also serves as Student Representative.
A mixture of creative spirit and analytical thinker, Andrés wants to be one of the new wave of innovative leaders of the future. He enjoys travelling and learning about new cultures, reading, cooking (but not cleaning) and playing guitar. Andrés is also an Executive Committee member of E3, the Entrepreneurship Club of ESADE Business School.
He is a highly motivated student from ESADE, who has previously organized the biggest German conference for entrepreneurship, while earning his Bachelor degree in International Business Administration at WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management in Germany.
He is very much looking forward to bringing some of the most inspiring people to Barcelona to spark even more interest for entrepreneurship and creating something yourself amongst young and talented individuals. He will strive to organize a smoothly running event that all the participants and speakers will enjoy to the fullest so that everybody will have a great time at TEDxESADE.
